Yingjie focused on a novel manufacturing method -- flash sintering -- of advanced ceramic composites during her PhD studies. She earned her doctorate at the University of California, Irvine, where a centralized microscopy facility with state-of-the-art instruments reside. While using various electron microscopy (EM) techniques for her research, Yingjie developed strong interests in them and decided to pursue her studies further. She is currently researching Mg-ion batteries using high-resolution EM and in-situ liquid cell EM at the University of Illinois, Chicago as a postdoc.
