I do research in Neurovirology and Neurosciences. I am also the currently Director of the Imaging Core and Coordinator of the Biology Master's Program. I have, with collaborators, develope animal models of HIV disease. One such model, is the HIV-1 TG rat. This is a non-infectious model that permits study of both pathology and behavior. I am working on the mechanisms by which HIV can result in Neural cell death and dysfunction. I am active in STEM education using the Microscope as a bridge to the differnt STEM ddisciplines.
