Dr. Ute Schmidt is applications manager at WITec GmbH Germany. She received her Dr. rer. nat. degree from the University of Karlsruhe, followed by two postdoc positions in Karlsruhe and Raliegh NC. With 30 years experience in various microscopy techniques such as in-situ STM, AFM, Raman imaging, SEM and SHG microscopy she is pleased to present recent RISE and Raman-AFM work related to polymorphism of calcium carbonates in biological systems.
