Head of the Cinvestav´s Advanced Ceramics Group and the National Laboratory of Thermal Spray of Mexico, CENAPROT. National researcher level III (SNI). His research lines are related to the synthesis, processing and characterization of advanced oxide materials in bulk and coatings (bioceramics and multifunctional) with special focus on the interplay between structure, processing, microstructure and properties. A major concern of the group is the study of the non-linear electro-mechanical behavior of Bismuth based Perovskites and its potential use in sensors, actuators, photocatalysis for environmental remediation, etc. His research group is also very active in the development of multifunctional bioceramics. Recently awarded with Georg Foster fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt foundation for research activities at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Cologne, Germany. He has more than 130 publications and more than 2800 citations and has directed more than 35 national or international research projects as well as more than 60 graduate students. Scientific ambassador of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation since 2020.
