I studied Materials Science in Hunan University, Changsha, China. I moved to Berlin, Germany and worked at Paul-Drude-Institute for solid state electronics with Dr. Achim Trampert on the topic of structural phase stability in III-V semiconductors. With a top honor grade "summa cum laude", I obtained doctor degree (Dr. rer. nat.) in Humboldt Universitaet zu Berlin in 2014. After a short stay in Finland, I joined the Institute of Micro- and Nanostructure Research at FAU in 2015. I am currently staff scientist at the institute, with roles as (1) a scientific advisor in various projects offering advanced electron microscopy/spectroscopy expertise, and (2) facility supervisor/manager of a double Cs-corrected, monochromated Titan Themis TEM, a probe-corrected Spectra 200 TEM and a collection of in situ TEM facilities.
My research interest lies in interfaces of functional nanomaterials and their relationship to their properties. I offer comprehensive expertise in micro- and nano-analytics in the field of materials science and nanotechnology, with more than a decade of experience in the development and application of advanced and in situ microscopy techniques.
My current research projects interests cover the following topics:
+ high-resolution imaging and spectroscopy of nanostructured materials and devices
+ diffraction-based methods, 4D-STEM, and data analysis routines
+ in situ electron microscopy techniques and novel preparation methods
+ phase contrast electron microscopy techniques (for revealing nanoscale electrostatic and magnetic fields)
+ extended defects in nano-structured semiconductors, metals and thin films
+ nano-particulate systems, nano-alloys and intermetallics
+ beam-sensitive organic/inorganic materials for photovoltaic and optoelectronics
