Zach Hasenbusch joined Dr. Brewer’s research group at The University of Alabama in 2019 as a Ph.D. student studying Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. His dissertation research is focused on the study and characterization of rapid solidification via splat quenching in austenitic stainless steel as it pertains to additive manufacturing. While completing his master’s degree, Mr. Hasenbusch assisted Dr. Robert Amaro with modeling the self-reacting friction stir weld process. Through the University of Alabama, Mr. Hasenbusch received a B.S.E in Metallurgical Engineering in the spring of 2018 and a M.S. in Metallurgical Engineering in the Fall of 2018 as part of an accelerated master’s program.
