Brian Gorman is a professor of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. He received his PhD in Ceramic Engineering from the University of Missouri – Rolla and went on to work in industry, at national labs, and internationally in academia. His expertise is in correlative electron microscopy and diffraction with atom probe tomography. His group uses these tools to count individual point defects in materials for quantum devices, microelectronics, ion conductors, and dielectrics. Brian has been a member of MSA and MAS since graduate school, served as a director of MAS for 3 years, and was a recipient of the Kurt F. J. Heinrich award in 2014.
