Carter Francis is a phD candidate at the University of Wisconsin Madison in the Materials Science Department. He completed his undergraduate at Iowa State University, receiving a degree in Materials Science and Engineering as well as minors in Economics and Mathmatics. His current area of interests are related to quantifying structure in glassy materials, as well as studying crystallization on glassy materials using 4-D STEM. In addition to those studies Carter is interested in open science, open tools for analysis and method development related to microscopy. He is an active developer, contributing to both the pyxem and hyperspy open source packages.
