Stephen Porter (PhD, Nanoscience and Microsystems Engineering, MA, Optical Science and Engineering) The University of New Mexico; BS, Physics, 2017 State University of New York at Oswego. Under the direction of Dr. Abhaya Datye, Stephen is currently analyzing transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images of heterogenous catalysts. Stephen is studying the mechanism behind the oxidation of a PdPt system. Stephen also wrote a proposal to gain access to the facilities at the Center for Integrated Nanotechnology (CINT) to study these systems in-situ. Stephen’s other research is currently focused on mathematically modeling TEM images of single atoms in order to determine the number of atoms within the lattice as well as their composition. Stephen contributed to a proposal to secure funding from the Department of Energy (DOE) for this single-atom work. He currently resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico to study at his post-graduate school to obtain his PhD and MS.
