Postdoctoral Researcher
Johannes Kepler University Linz / Center of Surface and Nanoanalytics / CD Laboratory for Nanoscale Phase Transformations
Linz, Oberosterreich, Austria
Dr. Alexey Minenkov is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics & Mathematics from the Kharkiv National University, Ukraine in 2016. The thesis was focused on the experimental investigation of phase state and diffusion mobility of the components in nanoscale films via in situ TEM. After completing his Ph.D., working as a senior researcher, and having a theoretical background in solid-state physics and nanotechnology, he was responsible for project development in the field of size effects on phase evolution and stability in metal and metal-semiconductor binary systems. Since January 2020 he has been affiliated with the Center for Surface and Nanoanalytics (JKU Linz), working in a frame of the ‘Christian Doppler Laboratory for Nanoscale Phase Transformations’ project headed by Dr. Heiko Groiss. In the project, Alexey is involved in conceptualization, methodology development, design and synthesis of the model specimens, experiments conduction and data processing. The main investigation tools are TEM (primarily in situ) and related techniques. His research interests focus on a fundamental understanding of the phase transitions, structure stability, and diffusion activity at the nanoscale. Special interest aims to highlight the role of the characteristic size of the material in such phenomena as general phase diagram evolution, melting and crystallization processes, diffusion kinetics, and mutual solubility in binary nanoscale alloys.
