PhD Candidate
Pennsylvania State University, United States
Samantha is an upcoming 4th year Ph.D. candidate of Biomedical Engineering in Dr. Deb Kelly’s lab at Penn State. She is a University Graduate Fellow, one of the most prestigious fellowships offered to graduate students at the university. Her research career began as an intern for 3 years at the Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory as an undergraduate, where she earned her first publication. Samantha switched gears from her previous lab work of analytical chemistry to structural biology, and now focuses on SARS-CoV-2 research. She aims to understand small biological proteins in a big way through the use of both cryo- and liquid-electron microscopy, with the dream of contributing to viral research in the future.
