Xiurong (Sharon) Zhu is a senior scientist at EMLab Solutions, Inc., where she also serves as the director of software R&D. Sharon graduated with her PhD in applied mathematics from Arizona State University. Her passion for science and scientific computing has led her through numerous projects, including those at the National Institute of Health, where she served as a Fogarty International Postdoctoral Fellow. Through combining her scientific knowledge and computing algorithms, she gained valuable insights into neural network models.
Sharon is the original creator and developer of the pioneering electron microscope and crystallography simulation application known as IdealMicroscope.
Before joining EMLab Solutions, Inc., she worked as a software engineering manager at Intel Corporation in its software R&D group, converting cutting-edge parallel technologies into software development tools for scientific computing communities.
At EMLab Solutions, Inc., leveraging her training and over 20 years of industrial experience, she architected cloudEMAPS and pyEMAPS with the aim to provide free and easy access for microscopy and crystallography communities to over 100 years of published scientific advances in the field.
